We all know the embarrassment of slipping and falling in public. How, almost instinctively, we try and get up as quickly as possible and try to brush off the incident. 
How many of us would report a slip or fall, and to whom?
Certainly in the work place any slip fall injury should be recorded in the injury book - even if no major injury is sustained (perhaps a bruised pride?). Keeping records can highlight a slippery floor in a particular area.
Slips and falls in public places, such as shopping centres, should always be reported to centre mangement for rectification.
The statistics, bearing in mind that only those that are reported can be counted, leave no room for doubt that slip and fall accidents are a significant problem.
What about those slips we have that don't result in a fall? 
A loss of traction for you could result in a fall for someone who is frail, elderly on unsteady on their feet.
Accident Prevention
Slippery floors cannot be left untreated and must be addressed. If you owe a duty of care, to anyone, then you can be liable for any injuries that arise from a slip fall accident.
Treatments are available to treat slippery floors. These treatments will make then non-slip and practically all treatments, carried out by professionals, will carry a warranty.
However, not all floors can be treated. The application of non-slip tapes or rubber anti-slip mats may be a better answer to the problem. 
Careful note should be made of the type of surface that is slippery and research will reveal the best solution(s).
It's not just slippery floors that can cause problems. Bath tubs and shower areas can also be a big problem - especially because they are meant to be wet!
But they don't have to be slippery when wet.
